Because our web hosting is built upon cPanel you can easily host multiple websites from one hosting package*.

You set this up from with the ‘Addon Domains’ section of cPanel.

1) Log into your cPanel Account

2) Select ‘Addon Domains’

3) Enter the domain you wish to add to your web hosting.

4) Choose an FTP username and select where you would like to store the files for your new website (this can be inside or outside your public_html folder).

5) Enter a password you would like to use for FTP for this website

6) Click Add Domain

7) You will then need to change the nameservers at your domain registrar to point to our servers (ns1.hydro-host.net & ns2.hydro-host.net)

Thats it! It can sometimes take a few hours for domain name changes to propagate wordwide, if you are unsure please contact us for assistance.

We would like to take a few moments to talk about WordPress and the advantages of keeping it up-to-date.

Many websites take advantage of the powerful resource of WordPress, it is therefore important to keep WordPress installations up-to-date and patched. WordPress is becoming ever more sophisticated, but so are hackers and malicious groups.

Its is important to keep your WordPress installation patched to offer maximum security and stability. WordPress updates are the best weapon webmasters have to use against malicious attacks to our websites and blogs powered by WordPress.

Not only do these important updates help the fight against hacking there are many other great reasons to update. Stability and speed, often reduced disk space requirements, less resource heavy, fantastic new features.

What’s more, these updates are FREE and very simple to perform. On most versions of WordPress updates can carried out within a matter of seconds from within the WordPress Admin Interface.

Word press updates appear in a yellow box at the top of your admin Dashboard. All you have to do is click “Please update now”, the click on “Update Automatically”. (version 2.7+).

Our Monitoring system has found a problem with the RAID array on server L2VUK. Urgent maintenance has been scheduled on this server to fix the problem. The server will be down for a few minutes. We expect the disruption to this server to be less than 30 minutes.

Schedule for Maintenance: 22 June 2011 6am.

Update: The maintenance has now been carried out.

We have increased the frequency of server backups for added protection of customer data. Backups of all Shared and Reseller hosting accounts are now taken daily instead of weekly.

All of our servers are backed up daily and are stored off site for maximum data protection. Account backup is a free service offered to all our customers which is automatically enabled by default. However if you would prefer us not to backup your account please let us know.

We always recommend taking your own backup too. You can download a full account backup from within cPanel.

GZIP compression has now been enabled within cPanel across all of our servers in order to allow our customers to get the very best performance out of their web hosting and bandwidth.

GZIP compression, works silently in the background to compress your webpages and images before they are transmitted to your viewer’s website. The web browser then unpackages the content for display, without the user ever being aware of this. All they will notice is the increased speed when navigating content rich web pages.

This feature can be found within cPanel by clicking on ‘Optimise Website’ in the ‘Software/Services’ section.
